Book Shepherding Services to assist you in being published as rapidly and easily
as possible
Included in our
services is access to all of the art at
www.clipart.com . We have a subscription and we invite you to visit the
site, select the artwork you want to include, and integrate it into you master
copy.
Because you do NOT have a subscription, all of the art you select will have a
copyright banner across the front of the artwork.
Once you have selected the art (and inserted it into your book copy), send us
the index numbers of the art you have selected and we’ll send you the same art
without the copyrighted Clipart.com banner on the face.
In addition to our services, you’ll be looking at the following estimated
charges:
1. Cover design – $600-$800
2. Editing charges –approximately $1.00 -$2.00 per page
3. ISBN Numbers - $300
4. Printing and shipping charges - $4.00-$5.00 per book in a 100 piece quantity.
From the time that you decide that your book is completed and ready to go, you
will be looking at approximately 21 days until you get the first shipment of
books in your hands.
Based on your requirements, the work and involvement at Rounds, Miller and
Associates will be as follows:
# Task Element and Description
Formatting and
preparation of your book for printing
The objective is to take your typewritten draft materials and artwork and format
them into print ready format
We’ll supply you with resources for:
• Creating the cover
• Having editing performed
• Adding clipart to the copy
• Obtaining Library of Congress registration, and
• Printing the book for minimum prices
• Bar coding and ISBN registration for your products($300 fee)
Once you (and your editor) have completed the final copy editing and made
whatever changes and corrections you feel are necessary, you’ll coordinate with
Nancy Miller and decide on the formatting for the book which includes:
• Overall book size
• Fonts and styles
• Clipart
• Pagination
• Margins
• Chapter Headers
• Table of contents
• Insertion of boilerplate pages
• Application for ISBN Numbering if required ($300 charge)
• Filing for the Library of Congress registration
She will integrate all of the artwork, text, and formatting into a “finished
book” for your final review and editing.
Once you’ve have reviewed the “hard copy” of the book and returned the pages
with the changes needed (you can make two sets of changes within the scope of
this agreement), she’ll incorporate the changes and print out a final draft.
Once you’ve approved the final draft, we’ll print out two (2) paper copies for
your files. Then we’ll convert the file to Adobe Acrobat® for submission to the
printer and we’ll supply you with two (2) CD’s each of the Word® and the Adobe®
files for printing and archival storage.
We’ll personally introduce you to the cover designer we recommend (Leslie Sears)
and the Printer (360 Digital) so that we’re all coordinating the effort and
working in conjunction with each agency to help ensure that the book is done
correctly and arrives in a timely manner.
2 Cover Design Support
You will need to supply us (and the cover designer) the following items:
• Full color artwork for the cover
• A color photograph of the author
• Basic titling and biography information for the author
• Descriptive copy for the book to appear on the back cover and spine
We will work with you to integrate your material into the finished design for
printing. If required, we will write the desk jacket copy for your final review
and approval
3 ISBN Support
The objective is to provide you with complete details on registering, creating,
and applying ISBN bar codes to all your products to make them acceptable for
retail sales in a variety of locations. If necessary and required,
• We’ll work with you to determine the requirements for complete bar coding and
ISBN registration for your products.
• We’ll assist you in obtaining the ISBN registration (You will have to pay for
the registration fees of approximately $300)
• We’ll coordinate with the cover designer to ensure that the ISBN, artwork,
pricing, and other details are properly integrated into the cover design for
printing
► Estimated cover design charges, including four-color camera ready art
including full integration of all ISBN and bar code information and entire cover
provided in Adobe Acrobat format on CD Rom for submission to the printer is
approximately $600-$800 with a 14-21 working day turnaround cycle
The fees for our services as described are as follows:
• Book shepherding services for your book as described herein - $2,100
Our terms are as follows:
• Full payment for services ($2,100) required to begin the work as described
herein.
PS – The final book will already be in electronic format so it’ll only take you
about an hour to set it up for a “pay per download” program if that’s what you
want to do.
